Just a family of sabertooth cats with mother in the middle tending her young. I made this carving using a single cross-cut section of mammoth tusk. The ivory was well preserved in permafrost and stabilized. All the cracks have been treated and some of them are well incorporated into the carving. Mammoth ivory is a perfect material for very detailed projects such as this one. The carving is 5 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall.
