Black shell sea turtle

My new very interesting and very pretty carving of the sea turtle that was made using several different kinds of mammoth ivory. The shell was made out of very rare and very pretty kind called black mammoth ivory. It is really black and it is natural coloration that happens after mammoth tusk was exposed for thousands of years to different minerals. The black colors in this piece were running deep (another rare occurrence) that allow me to carve the shell deep with bringing up several different shades of black. I made flippers and head out of highest grade white mammoth ivory and base is made out of round section of mammoth tusk (so-called bark ivory) with brown coloration that I carved to look like a coral reef.

The turtle is 3-1/4 inches (83mm) long from tip of it’s nose to the end of it’s flippers. the base is 3-3/4 inches (92mm) long. The width between tips of the flippers is 2-3/4 inches (70mm) and entire composition is 2 inches (51mm) tall
